Filming on 29/11/2011

On Tuesday me, Laura and Beatrice went to Laura's house to film. Our aim was to re-film Laura's bit as we didn't feel it worked the first time around at Megan's house. We also planned to film the rose part for the beginning of our music video.

Filming overall went quite well, and we got a lot done within our short amount of time there. However, the lighting was much better in person that when we uploaded it onto the Mac. This means we were limited in the shots we could actually use.

We filmed Laura's lips whilst she was singing, but this didn't turn out so well as the shots were quite blurry and in one of them, she had lipstick on her teeth.

These are just a few of the photos that I took for my digipak. I liked the lighting in them, and I think the background worked well.

Production Journal - Update

Unfortunately, I was unable to use the space in which I was going to take the photos of me and Laura at school on friday. Luckily, Megan has a white wall in her house which I was able to use.

Filming didn't go as well as I had expected, as filming was meant to commence at 5.30pm. Filming didn't start until about 7.30pm which delayed things a bit. This being said, we managed to get a lot of the filming done, and all of the cast turned up. We have decided to go back to the car park and do some more filming there on another date. This is more of a back up than anything else, as it's better to have more footage than not enough.

With there being less time than expected on Friday night, I was only able to take the photos of me and Laura. This means I'll need to plan a date soon in which I can shoot photos of Megan and Helen for my digipak.

Filming on 25/11/2011

Photoshoot during Period 4:

Laura will need to bring in/wear a red top or red dress. It will be a mid shot, so what she wears on the bottom half doesn't matter. She will have her hair down and curly, as normal. Accessories will be minimal, and make up will consist of fake eyelashes, black liquid eyeliner and red lips.

I will need to bring my camera with me, and get a tripod from Jack. I will be wearing my red velvet dress. My hair will be up and I will have red lips, with black liquid eyeliner on my eyes.

Filming at 6pm:

Laura will need to bring several outfits, so there is a costume change per scene. Make-up should be brought, as Laura is in charge of doing everyone elses make-up. Laura has the video camera, therefore she needs to bring this too.

I will need to bring oufits for each of the scenes I appear in - a different costume for each one. I will also need to bring some lighting for the street/outside scenes. I will need to bring accessories and any other make-up that may be needed

Megan will need to make sure that the room with the red wall is clear and accessible. She will need to bring outfits for each of the scenes she will appear in. She will need to bring her camera for the 'behind the scenes' footage.

Helen will need to bring a few outfits, so there is a change somewhere amongst the video. Helen is the girl with the 'edgy' look, therefore she should make sure all of her piercings are in. She will bring some make-up with her also (eyeliner, fake eye-lashes, dark lipstick).

The boys will all wear casual clothes - jeans, t-shirt, converse.

Photoshoot for my digipak

I am starting to think of a location for my digipak idea, but I'm not really sure if I should use the same location as featured in our video.

I have chosen to do a split screen as I liked this idea from when I was researching other girl band's front covers. To link the digipak together, I have chosen to stick with the whole 'diamond' theme.

I plan to find a white wall in which I can take photos of me and Laura during our free period on 25/11/2011. I will be taking photos of Megan and Helen at Megan's house, during filming on 25/11/2011. We will be filming from 6pm onwards, but I'm unable to get there until 7pm. They will film Laura's scene first, as I do not need to be present for that.

Planning a new digipak

I have now decided to change my idea for my digipak slightly, as I think doing a 6-sided one would be better. It will also allow me to be more creative.

I am sticking with the same Album name, as well as the typography I've chosen.

NEW intertextual reference

We have chose to use this new advert for Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara as it links with our song name, and will also fit in well to our original video idea.

Behind the scenes of filming - 11/11/11

Right near the end of filming, having a little tea break as it was so cold.

Me in action.

Discussing what to do next.

Applying make-up before shooting.

Setting up to shoot.

Overall, shooting went well. We managed to get it all done within the 2 hour time period we were allowed. It was well lit in there, so we didn't need to bring any lighting with us.

A little compilation of mine and Joe's funny moments when shooting (made on photoshop):

Our other intertextual reference: Mascara advert

INTERTEXTUAL REFERENCES FOR LOREAL LIPGLOSS

INTERTEXTUAL REFERENCES FOR RIMMEL MASCARA

INTERTEXTUAL REFERENCES FOR MAYBELLINE MASCARA

We are looking at tv adverts for these make-up products and hope to reference one of them within our music video. We thought it would be a good idea, as we as a band are releasing our own cosmetic products.

FINAL LOGO

Production Journal

In today's lesson we presented our pitch to the class. We received mixed feedback of both positive and negative comments. The first thing I am going to address is the logo. This was commented on saying the font was too swirly and that it should be more bold and edgy.

Researching fonts:

The font we chose was the one shown below, as it definitely has that edgy feel that we were looking for. Also, it looks quite similar to the font used in the Guns N Roses logo, which we will be referencing in the video through a Guns N Roses top.

FINISHED ANIMATIC!

Email response

I have emailed her back to let her know that we wish to be filming on the 11/11/11 between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. We are just waiting for a reply to confirm that we can start filming on that date.

Production Journal

In todays lesson, we have agreed a date to start filming for our music video: 11/11/11
On this date, we will only be filming the car park scene. We still have to confirm that everyone is free, but the four group members are all free.

Also, in this lesson, our group started to prepare for a pitch which we will be presenting in our next lesson to the class. We have divided the pitch up so that we each have our own things to talk about.
